Our answer is always the same: in all cases start by controlling the procurement of your raw material. You can run the best MPS in the world, but if you do not have the necessary raw material, you will never achieve it.
Of course, it is important to have a good MPS process but it can be very simple. In the first time, there is no need to spend much time optimizing it. First, you must secure your procurement plan with the VRO (Visual ReOrder).
Then fix your WIP management with Kanban especialy if your processes are not flexible or reliable.
The next step is to move from a conventional MPS to a Capacity Plan in order to improve its feasibility and tune production based on demand.
Finally, you can use BTT (Build To Truck) to exactly follow the demand and eliminate your Finished Goods inventory.
