The power of the VRO is that it pushes you to optimize physically the layout of your inventory and at the end, your inventory itself in order to have a total control of it.

FAQ

Why is more efficient to count by wave?

Counting is an intensive activity for the Counter so it is important to balance this activity with other ones like ordering and faxing in order to reduce counting errors and get a better KOSU. An other reason is to limit the time between the inventory snapshot done by the counting and the fax of the order. This time is part of the loop but has no value added.

Why is it sometime better to have 2 Pick-Up orders for the same Supplier?

Counting frequency is equal to delivery frequency. If the part's minimum quantity to order represents more than the consumption between 2 deliveries, counting doesn't mean ordering. To avoid counting for nothing, it is sometime better to have more than one pick-up order for a supplier. For example, if a supplier is delivering daily, one Pick-Up Order contains all parts which need to be delivered every day, an other one contains all parts delivered every week or more.
