Examples of KANBAN cards

This card shows:

  • the production line (on the top);
  • the shape linked to the reference;
  • the quantity per Kanban card;
  • the reference and the designation of the part.

This card would be more readable if the reference of the product to be produced was on a white background.

This card shows:

  • the production area (on the top);
  • the 2 shapes linked to the reference;
  • the reference of the main sub-assembly to use (reference: "58399435") and where it is produced ("LP2");
  • the reference of the part to produce (reference: "88141405") and its production line ("BTM");
  • the visual description of the part (just below the reference: "Longueur balai : 450", i.e. "blade lengh: 450").

This card would be more readable if the reference of the product to be produced was on a white background.

In this example, the Kanban controls a flow with 2 steps of production (multi-process KANBAN). This card shows:

  • the production area (on the top);
  • the 2 shapes linked to the reference to produce;
  • the reference of the main sub-assembly to use (reference: "58399705") and where it is produced ("LP2");
  • the reference of the intermediate state of the transformation (reference: "58399707") and where it is produced ("MR");
  • the reference of the part to produce (reference: "88067804") and its production line;
  • the visual description of it just below the reference ("Longueur balai : 600", i.e. "blade lengh: 600").

Complicated shapes like the one shown on the right is not recommended, it is better to use 2 simple shapes. The goal is to be able to distinguish in a second 2 references without a visual effort.

Why large cards? The lost of cards is inevitable if they are small or if their location on products or their packaging is unsuitable
