Loop Update Card
Update Loop Card
After each MPS you are going to update loops. When a loop is decreasing, you have to remove some cards from the KANBAN system accordingly. It may be possible that you have to remove some cards from material already produced. 2 solutions exist:
- you leave this material in the KANBAN inventory without card;
- you replace the regular card by an "Loop Update Card".
The first solution means that you accept to have material in the KANBAN inventory without card. Consequences could be dangerous for the system integrity because:
it is possible to produce without card and store material in the KANBAN inventory without been detected.
To avoid this inconvenience, each time you have to remove a card from the KANBAN inventory, you replace it by an Loop Update Card. This card is only issued by the person reponsible to manage the KANBAN Loop update process. It identifies material produced during a previous period when the loop value was higher and not yet consumed. This card cannot be used to produce. It means that when the associated material is going to be consummed, the card will not go the the Batch Building Box but in a specific location dedicated to collect this type of cards (like a mail box).
A Loop Update Card cannot be found outside of the KANBAN inventory: nor in a Batch Building Box or Launcher.
Update Loop Card layout
A Loop Update Card is generic not dedicated to a reference. It has to be easily recognized: our cards showned above have red large stripes. On the card you have to fill:
- the reference;
- the date when you issue the card;
- the previous loop size;
- the new loop size.
All these information could be used later to understand since when you have an extra inventory in your KANBAN area and facilitate to search the root cause.
